'Technical issues' with sewer works lead to overnight closure of road in Sleaford
UNFORESEEN circumstances will lead to overnight closure of a Sleaford road being extended.
Sewer maintenance work by Anglian Water in Carre Street and Southgate which resulted in the roads being closed daily from 7pm to 7am was due to be finished on January 27.

But, due to "unforeseen technical difficulties", Southgate will remain closed overnight until tomorrow while the work in Carre Street finished last Tuesday.
John Clare from Anglian Water said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are notifying local businesses and residents of the changes.
"Work in these streets is part of a £1.5 million project to re-line more than two-and-a-half kilometres of ageing sewers in 36 streets around Sleaford.
"This should strengthen the pipes and dramatically reduce the risk of them collapsing, with all the cost and disruption that would result.
"Re-lining sewers requires much less digging than putting in new pipes.
"A cloth and fibreglass sock is fed into the sewer and then set in place to create a hard inner lining."
A diversion route will be signposted and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

“My complaint is not that the work is being done - it needs to be done or the problem will get a whole lot worse as you described. My complaint is that no business owners have been notified of the potential distruption as per the quote from Mr Clare.
Had we been notified in advance then I would have no complaints whatsoever.”

“Of course the other option is for them not to bother and let the thing collapse. The road would then be undermined by water and sewerage, eventually the road would give way and the disruption would be a worse that what is currently being experienced. There again you can please all the people all the time.”

Really, Mr Clare? I own a business directly affected by the night time closures but I've had nothing through my door over the past couple of months, and neither have any other business owners I've spoken to.
Your company and its contractors are useless!”
