Mr Howes said: "The complainant was hit by another male. At that point the defendant came in and delivered a blow to the victim's head with a beer bottle.

"He missed on one occasion but was successful on a second occasion. The blow to the right side of the head caused a laceration which bled. He was treated at Skegness Hospital."

Errickson, 23, of Woodlea, Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on 15 November 2010.

Robert Underwood, defending, said Errickson, who was working at Butlins at the time, acted out of character and could not explain his actions.

Judge Michael Heath adjourned sentence for a probation report and granted bail.
