Terry Fleming praised his players' character and determination after Lincoln United battled back from a goal down to dominate the second half and secure a point against Kidsgrove Athletic last Saturday.

The Whites have still only managed to win one home game this term, but player-manager Fleming was delighted with his side and labelled the performance the best that Ashby Avenue has seen from United this season, writes Martin Shillito.

"It was probably the best performance from us at home this season and the first home game that we've played well in both halves," said the former Lincoln City captain.

"We were unlucky to concede the goal and go 1-0 down at half-time, but I thought the guys showed great character to get back into the game.

"We created a lot of chances and we were just unfortunate not to come out with all three points.

"Once we got our goal we did sit back a little bit and they pumped a couple of balls in the box, but we took control of the game again and created three or four good chances.

"Back to front, we won all the battles on the pitch. They say if you win eight or nine battles you usually win the game.

"I think we won every one and we still didn't win, but it's very pleasing for me as a manager and Daz (Dye) as an assistant manager to see a performance like that.

"On another day we win the game 3-1 or 4-1, it's just unfortunate that nothing's going right for us at the moment."

When it comes to playing at their Ashby Avenue home, nothing has seemed to go right all season for United.

They have often struggled to control and dominate games, even against teams right at the bottom of the Evo-Stik League Division One (South) table.

However, last Saturday was a different story and, despite playing brilliantly and still not being able to win the game, Fleming is unconcerned by his side's inability to win at home.

"It's not a worry or a concern to me because with the group of guys I've got, if we keep performing at that level and that standard, we will win more games than we lose," he said.

"I'd rather draw a game like that, when we're playing well and creating lots and lots of chances, having eight or nine corners, as a whole team dominating the game in terms of chances, than scrape a draw playing poorly.

"If we continue to play like that I've got no problem with the team, because we will win more games than we lose."
