Thieves take coin jar from charity shop
A CITY charity which works on behalf of children and young people with special needs and disabilities has been targeted by criminals again.
A burglary at the Strut in the Community shop, in Woodfield Avenue, Birchwood, was reported to police just after 8am on Tuesday.
A back door was damaged in order to gain access and a glass jar containing a few coins was taken.
It is believed nothing else was stolen.
As reported in the Echo, the charity's offices in Wragby Road have been broken into about nine times since 2003.
In January the garage in which Strut stores its donations was broken into and other items were stolen.
The charity now has new, more secure premises in Outer Circle Road and is appealing for kind-hearted painters, decorators and builders to help make the headquarters feel like home.
Charity managers say the extra space and play area are a boost to the children who use the charity.
Anyone with information about the latest burglary is asked to call Lincolnshire Police on (01522) 882222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
