Thieves target Lincoln Central railway station ticket office
Police are appealing for information after the ticket office at Lincoln Central train station was broken into in the early hours of this morning.
A member of the rail staff reported the break in at around 4.30am. Officers attended the scene and discovered that the ticket office doors had been forced open and attempts had been made to break into the office’s cash machine.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Nothing appears to have been taken from the office or the machine and it looks like the suspects have left empty handed.
“We are currently making local enquiries and ask any members of the public with information about this incident to come forward.
“We would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles near the rail station.”
The ticket office was sealed off for several hours while forensic examinations took place, but it reopened at around 11am.
Passengers are still able to board trains as normal and any passengers needing tickets are able to buy them on the train.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the British Transport Police by calling 0800 405040, quoting incident number 51 of February 17. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

“Thanks for that jera78, but as that's your only comment on this website at the time of writing, I'm afraid you just get filed under 'shill'. Tell your buddies at Labour HQ to make it less obvious next time, mmmkay?”

Things are very simple in your world huh?”

“Yep, should just have police randomly walking about so that in the one time in yonks the train station gets targeted they are there to do something about it.
On a seperate issue, imagine if there was a police force solely set up to deal with trains and there stations, they would be helpful...”

“Lets face it apart from someone breaking in for the cash a train ticket can cost a small ransom these days; an authentic looking "season ticket", could be a highly lucrative to sell on to someone!
As for suspicious characters being around there were probably a few- waiting for a taxi there after a boozy night out.”

“Seeing as we have 70 less Police Officers in the county thanks to cuts by Mr. Cameron I very much doubt there is anyone available to patrol the streets in the early hours. Anyone who voted Tory has no right to complain about cuts of any kind as they bought it on themselves!”

“Sometimes when I see our lovely PCSO about the centre, I wonder if she has any back-up? Is anyone else patrolling the streets?”
