Craig Smith.
He stabbed Mr Dawidowski 11 times after forcing his way into the man's home on Saxon Street in Lincoln on March 4 last year.
The court heard Mr Dawidowski, the former partner of Smith's then-girlfriend, Katy Stainton, was left for dead after the brutal attack.
Smith then attempted to evade capture by destroying his clothes after fleeing the house with a blood-stained chair under his arm.
His victim was in hospital for almost two months after the stabbing.
Judge Michael Heath told Smith: "You made a determined and devious attempt to hoodwink two juries and escape justice for this offence."
Smith must serve a minimum of 10 years before he can be considered for release.
