Time to honour West Lindsey's unsung heroes
A Lincolnshire local authority wants to build on the success of its first-ever community awards.
Gainsborough-based West Lindsey District Council held its first celebration of community spirit last year.
Now the council has launched its 2013 awards with an appeal for nominations.
It wants to hear stories of how people are working hard at the heart of their communities.

"The awards will recognise how individuals and groups are striving to make their towns and villages better, safer and happier places in which to live," said WLDC's awards organiser Nicola Calver
"It's all about recognition for those who help others around them and achieve great things without the thought of being thanked or of any kind of reward.
"They are people who earn respect and appreciation sometimes without people even knowing it.
"All you need to do is nominate the person you think ought to be recognised and tell us why."
There will be four categories - the area champion, volunteer of the year, the parish or town council of the year and a new special recognition award for either a group or an individual.
Closing date for nominations is Thursday, October 31 and all the winners will be announced at the awards evening at 7pm on Thursday, December 5 at the council's Guildhall headquarters in Gainsborough.
West Lindsey District Council chairman Irmgard Parrott said: "I really think it is important to say thank-you for the hard work done by these people.
"The work these champions carry out is not always shouted about, so through a ceremony like this we can show how much we appreciate what they do."
The nomination forms are available online at www.west-lindsey.gov.uk/communityawards or from Nicola Calver on 01427 676606.
