Garden waste fly-tipping slammed as 'selfish'
FLY-TIPPERS who are dumping garden waste in Fishtoft have been slammed as "selfish" by two local councillors.
Councillor Helen Staples and Councillor Liz Barker say waste is being left in Rider Gardens up to ten days before the garden waste collection vehicle is due to call.

They claim the problem has been going on for about 18 months, despite their efforts to make sure everyone is aware of the collection rota.
Councillor Staples told the Target: "We are incensed by this. It is so selfish of these people to do this.
"It is not only unsightly to have this waste there for days on end, but it also could attract vermin and pose a health risk.
"We have tried everything we can think of to help the people living in the Rider Gardens area with this problem, but it just continues. The waste can be there for ten days. We have even known it be to dumped the day after the collection.
"The people doing this must be driving to the area to leave the waste, so surely it would be just as easy for them to take it to the proper site in Slippery Gowt Lane?
"Our message to whoever is doing this is to stop being so selfish and think of the effect it is having on others."
Anyone caught fly-tipping could be prosecuted and face a fine of up to £5,000.
Witnesses or anyone with information about fly-tippers are asked to call the council on 01205 314200.
