Town to give their views on what children want for Christmas
THE people of Skegness could be consulted about what they would like to see done for the children of the town at Christmas.
For several years, the Town Council has funded a Christmas party for local children but a fall in numbers over the years led to the event being postponed in 2009. Instead the money was divided up around the local primary schools and given as a donation to the Parents and Friends Associations.
At a meeting of the council's management committee last week, members proposed that the Council's Spring newsletter be used alongside consultations with shoppers in the Hildred's Centre to ask local people whether they want money to be spent on a Christmas party and if not, what they would like to see it spent on and how much should be allocated per child.
Cllr Sue Binch suggested that the council put together a list of around five possible ways of holding a party but Cllr Steve Kirk suggested this could be done once the council had established what the children and parents themselves wanted to see.
Cllr Kirk said: "We need to ask, do you want the Town Council to continue funding a Christmas party and if so how much should we be spending per child?"

“Given the 22.52% rise in Skegness Town Council tax whatever they do should be fantastically spectacular. Perhaps they could get Hannah Montana to come and perform?”
