Tributes have continued to pour in following the sudden death of Lincoln City legend Keith Alexander.

Club bosses opened the gates at Sincil Bank to allow fans to leave flowers and memorabilia in the dugout where Keith once stood as manager.

Both local and national figures from the world of sport also paid glowing tributes.

But perhaps the most visible sign of what an impact Alexander had on the Imps during his time there has been the remarkable flood of comments from fans.

Within hours of his death, a Facebook group had been set up – and had gathered a staggering 11,500 members by yesterday afternoon.

The Echo was also flooded with tributes to the man who took the Imps to four consecutive League Two play-offs from 2003 to 2006.

The club is now preparing to mark his life at their next home match against Hereford on Friday, March 12.

Club spokesman John Vickers said: "He was a top man.

"The stories and the tributes that have been paid across the footballing world tell the whole story.

"They speak volumes for how well Keith was respected within the game."

For more on the tributes, see Friday's Echo.
