LINCOLNSHIRE could blood three debutants in their Minor Counties Championship match at Norfolk tomorrow.

Batsmen Liam Andrews and Pierce Morley-Barnes and bowler Colin Cheer have been called up to Lincs' 12-man squad who will travel to Horsford for the Imp County's penultimate game of their Eastern Division campaign.

Lincs will be without experienced batsmen Vikram Atri and Martyn Dobson due to work commitments, while wicketkeeper Oliver Burford is on holiday and will miss his first Lincs game for a decade.

Pete Morgan, who briefly stood in behind the stumps when Burford went off injured in the match against Cumberland and also keeps wicket regularly for Bourne, will take over the wicketkeeping duties.

There is also a recall for Andrew Crook, who was recently dropped after a run of poor scores.

But it is the three new faces in the squad who will provide the main interest as Lincs look to give some experience to young players who could become regular fixtures in the side in the future.

Andrews, a left-arm batsman and left-arm spinner from Gainsborough, plays for Clifton Village in the Notts Premier League and is one of the league's leading runs-scorers and wicket-takers.

Morley-Barnes has scored more than 1,000 runs for Lindum this season, while Cheer has taken 35 wickets for Boston at an average of 19.66.

Lincs director of cricket Mark Fell says there will be no weight of expectancy on the young players, but he still expects his side to be strong enough to get a result against Norfolk.

"There will be no pressure on the young guys in the team – it is about them gaining experience. We want them to play their normal game," said Fell, whose side beat Staffordshire inside two days in their last match.

"Those three all deserve a chance in the side. We need to look to the future and look at players who could become regular players in the team over the next few years.

"But I still think we will be putting out a strong side. If we play to what we are capable of, then Norfolk will have to play very well to beat us."

Lincs, who are third in the Eastern Division table, need to win both of their final two games to give themselves the best chance of finishing top and making the Minor Counties final.

"Unfortunately we had rain on the final day against Suffolk (Eastern Division leaders) at Sleaford so we got a draw when we were in a really good position. If we'd have won that game we'd be ahead of them," said Fell, whose side play Shropshire in the Minor Counties Trophy final on August 11.

"We need to win our final two games and we are confident we can."

Norfolk are mid-table in the division, having drawn all four of their matches so far.

LINCS SQUAD: Cook, Birch, Crook, Dowman, Morgan, Andrews, Morley-Barnes, Houston, Onyon, Osmond, Cheer, Darke.
