THE damaged wind turbine saga put the area on the map this week as it captured the excitement of the country.

On the Today Programme on Thursday, Ecotricity MD Dale Vince said: "We are trying to find out the cause of the incident but we have not come up with an answer yet. The UFO is the best one we have certainly got.

"It would have taken a lot to damage the blades in this way, the weight of a cow would have done it."

He said there is not yet a rational explanation for what happened but other causes could be lightning or material fatigue.

Due to the media attention, security group One Force were drafted in to guard the site on Thursday and Friday night.
