Lincolnshire captain Paul Cook's ban from cricket has been slashed to four weeks.

The Bracebridge Heath right-hander had been handed an 11-week suspension following an incident last season, believed to surround when a one-match ban was taken.

Cook was banned for one game following an incident during Bracebridge's ECB Premier League clash with Woodhall Spa at Cross O'Cliff Court in July.

However, following an appeal hearing last night, Cook will now sit out just four weeks of the new season.

That is set to include the first two games of Lincs' one-day campaign against Norfolk and Suffolk.

“Agree with most of what you say Michael am amazed the League were weak and allowed him to pick his game also you people who say Mark Fell has ruined lincs cricket need to have a look at yourself he has done more to get Lincs cricket in the headlines than anyone, have seen his coaching first hand and is second to none in this county, also you lads who critcise grow a backbone and put your name on your gripes.”

“The Woodhall captain has no need to be punished as he did nothing wrong. He appealed for a decision and the umpires gave it out, simple. Mr.Cook's actions after the decision were made were obviously that bad the umpire had to report them and the punishment was well deserved. I also find it strange the league allowed him and his club to cherry pick when the ban was served, its just a good thing that he opened his mouth and told everyone he was unavailable anyway, therefore getting the correct punishment.”

“Absolute joke - I was there that day as a cricket follower and if that had been any other club than BBH it would not had even got as far as a disciplinary matter.
Why hasn't Woodhalls captain been disciplined for his actions that day? Answer cos he plays for other club than BBH.
This just sums up the state of Lincolnshire cricket and the people that run it, if i was BBH i would seriously consider going back into the Notts League which is well run and have people in charge who understand the game.”
