Unemployment rises again along east coast
UNEMPLOYMENT in Skegness and Mablethorpe rose again in November reflecting the seasonal impact on the local economy.
Figures published by the Office of National Statistics showed a 23 percent increase in unemployment by Travel to Work Area - the area where the population would generally commute to for the purposes of employment.
The number of people unemployed in the Skegness and Mablethorpe area, rose from 1,491 in October to 1,841 in November, largely due to the end of seasonal trading for many local businesses.
Overall the current unemployment rate for the coast stands at 5.6 percent, well above the rate for Lincolnshire at 3.7 percent, and nationally at 4.1 percent.
