University of Lincoln graduate opens her own city gallery
AN up-and-coming artist is opening her first gallery in Lincoln.
Rosie Ablewhite, a graduate from the University of Lincoln, is opening Lincoln Art Works in West Parade.
The sale of the gallery was overseen by Lincoln-based Langleys Solicitors LLP.
Realising her life-long ambition, Rosie said: "I'm so excited to be opening my own gallery in Lincoln and I'm so grateful to those who have supported me to the point that I can see my dreams coming true.

"After graduating from university with a degree in fine art, I wanted to use my passion to create a career. After exhibiting in the gallery I fell in love with the space and I'm really pleased that now I have a gallery I can call my own."
She added: "I was inspired to have a gallery of my own by being part of a Damien Hirst art work in the Tate Modern with my twin sister Sarah as part of his "Pop Life – Art in a Material World" exhibition.
Rosie's parents have helped her to buy the gallery. Rosie's mother, Di Ablewhite, said: "It's been fantastic being able to help our daughter realise her dream. She has loved art all her life and has drawn since she was old enough to hold a pencil!
"The plans for the business are to try to promote a selection of differing styles and prices of art by both established and new artists, and for Rosie to develop her skills as a commercial artist and build that side of the business."
The gallery will display different styles of art by local artists and offer exhibition space for hire on a weekly basis, as well as the more permanent pieces for sale. The gallery will also sell prints, cards and small gifts.
