VIDEO: Alex Lowes begins British Superbike season with pair of second places for Samsung Honda at Brands Hatch
Alex Lowes made an outstanding start to his MCE British Superbike campaign with a brace of second places at Brands Hatch.
On his first outing for the Louth-based Samsung Honda team, Lowes was pipped to victory in race one by reigning champion Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne of Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki.
The Lincoln rider was in the hunt again in race two where he was only beaten by former MotoGP rider James Ellison of Milwaukee Yamaha.
The results saw Lowes leave Brands second in the standings, just one point behind Byrne ahead of the second round at Thruxton this weekend.

Lowes’ Samsung Honda team-mate, three-time BSB champion Ryuichi Kiyonari, had to settle for fourth and sixth.
In the National Superstock 1000 class, Lee Jackson also made an impressive start to the season, finishing sixth on his Buildbase BMW.
The Skellingthorpe rider had only been targeting a top-20 place at a one of his least favourite tracks.
But the reigning Superstock 600 champion went far better that, finishing just 3.2 second behind race winner Adam Jenkinson.
In the Motorsport British Supersport races, Boston’s Ben Wilson made a solid start to the season for Gearlink Kawasaki, finishing fourth in Saturday’s race and third yesterday.
However, Wilson was beaten in both races by new team-mate Alastair Seeley, who won yesterday’s race after coming third on Saturday.
