VIDEO: Class A1 Pacific locomotive at Lincoln Central station
Dozens of people gathered at Lincoln Central station today to watch as the Peppercorn Class A1 Pacific 60163 Tornado, a replica steam locomotive, pulled into the city.
Finished in 2008, the engine was the first new steam locomotive to built in Britain for almost 50 years.
The A1s were designed by Arthur Peppercorn for the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) and were used from the late 1940s to 1966.
Now the new 60163 Tornado, The Cathedrals Express, together with its historic carriages, takes passengers through the English countryside for an authentic steam experience.
It stopped in Lincoln Central at 1.33pm today, but was pulled by a diesel engine - something that did not go down well with trainspotters who had gathered to see its arrival.
One member of train staff can even be heard saying "sorry about the diesel" from the window to people on the platform.
