Mike Leckey flew both the Lancaster and Dakota in the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight between 2000 and 2009 and was asked by the museum to taxi 'Just Jane'.
He said: "Flying the aircraft in the peacetime environment is stressful because it is a priceless artefact and you've got thousands of people watching.
"When you get away from the display circuit in transit the emotion of privilege takes over but it is a difficult old aeroplane to fly."
