“The problem is that it's not just the person that gets hit,it's the mental damage done to drivers, passengers and everyone else who has to clean up the mess,it seems too obvious to make the barriers higher so there must be a reason why they havn't,I suspect its so that anyone who gets gets stuck on the line accidentally can escape easily.”

I am sure the driver of the train would simply carry on, get to the end of his shift, have a pint and go to bed as normal running someone down and killing them. Also the family of the person would be non plussed as well.”

This really isnt a problem worth fixing is it? The barriers are there, they are clear, and its impossible to end up on the line by accident... If people want to leap the barriers, they know the risks and its their choice, it doesnt endanger anybody else.

I think what should be prioritised, are level crossings with no barriers, or just half barriers.”
