VIDEO: 'First Fire' at Renewable Energy Plant
The Sleaford Renewable Energy Plant this morning reached a milestone in its construction stage with its 'First Fire'.
From now until January when the operations begin at the plant on a commercial basis all parts of the system involved will be commissioned and prepared.
Straw sourced from farmers from within a 50 mile radius of the plant will be burned in a boiler to produce a high temperature, high pressure steam, which is then used to drive the steam turbine generator.
The steam drives the turbine's rotor, which in turn generates electricity that is fed into the national grid.
