Skegness Musical Theatre Company's leading man, Trevor Fenton, has shaved his head to get into his latest role and raise money for Comic Relief.

The 46-year-old, has decided not to wear a bald cap but to sacrifice his hair for the role of King Mongkut in the group's latest production, The King and I.

When the show was last performed by the group in 1965, Ron Tither hid his hairline behind a bald cap to portray the part of King Mongkut of Siam made famous by Yul Brynner.

Mr Fenton is going a step further, spotting an opportunity to raise money for charity as the show, running from March 14 to 16 at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness, will coincide with Comic Relief 2013.

Trevor Fenton, playing King Mongkut of Siam said: "'Having seen Yul Brynner perform the iconic role on stage in 1979, I really wanted to go the extra mile.

"It seemed a perfect opportunity to raise some money for charity at the same time."

Members of the group have already been collecting for Comic Relief and showgoers will also be able to donate on the night at the theatre.

The show will feature local talent from the age of 5-years-old to over 70-years-old, showcasing local singers and dancers.

Rehearsals have been running since September and the performance promises popular songs such as 'I Whistle A Happy Tune' and 'Getting To Know You', accompanied by a live orchestra.

Skegness Musical Theatre Company is made up of local amateur singers and dancers, which have been entertaining the town with annual shows for almost 50 years. They are constantly looking for local support and new members to join the production.

Tickets cost £13 for adults and £11 for concessions and are bookable through the Embassy Theatre on 0845 6740505.
