Vandals strike again at Jubilee Fountain in Boston's Central park
THE Jubilee Fountain in Boston's Central park was damaged again on Friday just two hours after it was officially re-opened.
The fountain has not been working since it was vandalised in June, two days after it was opened to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It was repaired and re-opened at 11.30am on Friday.
Kevin Field, the parks and ground supervisor for Boston Borough Council got a call from a member of the public at 1.30pm on Friday informing him of the damage.
Mr Field said: "Apparently kids were over at the fountain climbing on it and where the cement's not totally dried they've managed to snap the top off.

"It's such a shame, I can't believe they've done this after it was only fixed this morning but that's kids for you I suppose."
The topmost feature is a small component for the final emergence of the water fountain into the top bowl and cannot be subject to heavy-duty mechanical fixing. It is believed the damage to the fountain was mainly as a result of the adhesive compound not having time to cure.
The two boys responsible were caught immediately and have been seen with their parents by police.
After the fountain was first switched on in June it became unsafe after two teenage girls climbed onto it and rocked it loose.
Parks staff had to take the structure down as far as the base pool in order to make it safe and it has since been under repair by Boston Borough Council.
Councillor Yvonne Gunter, portfolio holder for parks and open spaces, said: "It is unfortunate that this minor damage happened so soon, before the final item fixed had time to be properly secure.
"There was a small window of opportunity for damage to be caused, and sadly that opportunity was taken. It is a minor setback, but one which the council is determined to overcome."

“Better still, lets teach children how to behave properly in public. If they want to destroy their own homes then that's fine, but if they think vandalising public property is acceptable then they should be made to repair the damage with their own money and time.”

“Yet if the children were to fall off an hurt themselfs, there would be a claim for compensation. Not that I'm sticking up for the young lads involved, but what can be done about it? Naff all, the water feature should be inaccessible/ fenced off if its that delicate to damage. What would be said if it fell on a child trapping them underneath yet they were only sat on the edge of it, you would be up in arms saying it was unsafe, not properly secured, take it down and get rid of it, save the time and money on something like a park.”
