Vegans reiterate their opposition to plans for county super-dairy
VEGANS in Lincolnshire have reiterated their opposition to a super-dairy in the county.
As reported in the Echo in April, Nocton Dairies Ltd pulled its plans for an 8,100-cow milking facility on a 22-acre site near Nocton.
-

Another proposal is imminent as representatives of the firm plan to meet residents this weekend.
Involved in the £40 million super-dairy project are farmers Peter Willes, of Devon, David Barnes, of Lancashire, and Robert Howard, of Nocton.
The consultation sessions are at Wood Farm, Dunston Fen Lane, Dunston, from 6pm to 8.30pm tomorrow and from 8am to 2pm on Saturday.
Linda Wardale, group co-ordinator of Vegan Lincs, said: "We were totally opposed to the dairy farm at Nocton when the plans were first submitted. We will still be opposing the dairy.
"Lincolnshire and the UK does not want it.
"We should now be targeting the supermarkets and demanding they change their policies on milk to enable traditional dairy farmers the chance to flourish once more.
"If this super-dairy does get the green light, this will pave the way for this method of intensive farming all over the UK ."

“I'm suprised the vegan's have enough energy to lift their hands to click a mouse... and following an American tree hugging model... God forbid!!!
I'm totally opposed to vegans, i'm going to put my leather shoes on, get my milky latte coffee and go for a bacon sandwich, then go and protest about these idiots.
I'm not in favour of a super dairy, but prefer that to a bunch of anaemic hippies”

“Those of us here who are trying to fight this appalling proposal are very grateful to the informed and vocal support we are getting from Vegas Lincs and other, national, organisations who share our disbelief that this proposal ever saw the light of day (something the cows won't experience). From the experience of the American model the developers cite as their inspiration, we know it will damage the environment, public health and the traditional dairy farming industry in this country. It must be stopped, traditional dairy farmers need our support and the supermarkets need to be offering ethically sound farmers a fair deal.”
