Villagers demand compensation after four months of roadworks in Kirton
A PARISH Council is calling for compensation for businesses as emergency engineering work on a main road through Kirton enters a fourth month.
Kirton parish council chairman councillor Alan Lee has voiced his, and residents' concerns over the length of time Anglian Water is taking to rectify a collapsed road at the junction of Willington Road and Church Lane.

CONCERNS RAISED: Local councillors and residents are concerned at the length of time Anglia Water has taken to carry out 'emergency works' in Kirton.
Cllr Lee said: "The works began at the end of May and we were told it would last around a month, and although the road opened for four days at the beginning of June, it has been closed ever since.
"We are very concerned at the length of time it is taking but we can only advise residents on what Anglian Water is advising us."

A sign-posted diversion has been put in place to redirect traffic from the High Street, up Boston Road to London Road and along Ralphs Lane to Kirton End – a distance of more than three miles.
A spokesman for Anglian Water said: "The poor conditions of the ground and the unusual circumstances caused by a high water table is impacting on the speed at which the works can be carried out.
"Until the repairs have been made to the sewer network and the manhole, the roads will remain closed.
"Due to the poor conditions we are not able to give a definite date, however, we estimate the earliest the roads will re-open is late September."
After speaking to local residents Cllr Lee is concerned that residents and businesses are feeling isolated.
He added: "I have spoken to some retailers who say that the road works have led to some loss of business.
"I feel that Anglian Water should give them some ort of water rebate as way of compensation."
The spokesman for Anglian Water had added that the company is sorry for the inconvenience caused but the work is essential to make sure the sewer is fully operational.
