Volunteer roadshow to held Guide Dogs charity
A VOLUNTEER roadshow for Guide Dogs for the Blind is being held in Skegness next Wednesday.
Various speakers from Guide Dogs who will be at the event to answer any questions about the organisation or volunteering. In addition, a local guide dog owner already benefiting from the charity's work will be there to talk about their own involvement with the charity and the difference that having a guide dog has made to them.
Regional volunteering coordinator for Guide Dogs, Rebekah Shepherd, said: "There are so many ways to volunteer. In particular we are looking for fundraisers to form part of the Skegness branch. Volunteering is fun and rewarding – you know you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially-sighted people."
The Guide Dogs service is entirely funded by voluntary donations, and needs support from volunteers to maximise its services for blind and partially-sighted people.
The roadshow takes place at the Queens Hotel, Scarborough Avenue on March 24 from 2pm. Anyone interested in volunteering or fundraising for Guide Dogs is invited to attend or call 0845 371 7771.

“I'd like to see more about this charity and the call for more volunteers. Tomorrow, Friday, April 16, two young men will walk through Lincoln on their way from Nottingham to Skegness - on foot - to call attention to Guide Dogs for the Blind and their good work. One is American, one English. I am housebound (challenged by poor vision) and hope you will take pictures of them for a nice story.”
