Wanted: 12 millionaires to take up residence on the county's most exclusive estate
The search is on to find buyers for properties on a new
Lincolnshire estate where every home costs at least £1m.
Developers are pressing ahead with what promises to be the
county's most exclusive housing project despite the pressures
of the credit crunch.
The luxurious homes, which will be about seven times the
size of regular family homes, are being built next to Lincoln
Golf Club at nearby Torksey.
Two of the homes are being constructed by Gusto Homes, whose
chief executive is Lincoln City Football Club chairman Steff
Wright.
"Three homes on the site are already occupied so we're
really hopeful that there'll be a lot of interest," he
said.
"These will be dream houses and it will be a bonus if we can
attract people here with their businesses to create new
jobs."
But with each having 21 rooms, a swimming pool, an acre of
land and a games room, the homes may struggle to hit their the
target market.
Andy Hey, Lincolnshire spokesman for the Institute of
Chartered Surveyors, said: "I think 12 on the same site is an
awful lot.
"The sort of person who would spend a lot of money on a
house in Lincolnshire is normally someone who wants a bit of
individuality.
"I think a development like this would be better in
somewhere like Kensington or Chelsea."
State-of-the-art environmentally friendly features include a
rainwater harvesting system to flush the mansions' toilets,
geothermal heating that extracts heat from the ground and solar
water heating.
J H Walter estate agents, based in Mint Lane, Lincoln, will
be marketing the homes.
Partner Tim Atkinson said: "Obviously we're not going to be
expecting hundreds of people queuing to buy them because they
are so exclusive. It is an unusual development and nothing like
this is available elsewhere in the Lincoln area."

“It's "bitter & twisted hour" with vitcor meldrew - touched a nerve! Who mentioned private number plates? The world does not revolve around you and your urine-soaked sofa. Still, who wants to buy a house for that much in lincs? You could buy up most of birchwood for that, but again, why would you want to!!”

“For one million I'd expect a country estate not a housing estate!
They are truly hideous. More like something off of Footballers Wives than something you expect in rural Lincs.
How did the land owner get planning permission? Hmmm I wonder?”

“For a home costing M£1 I want exclusivity (not 12) in an area where I can get good business opportunities and access to great theatre, restaurants and transport network....and the ability to sell quickly if required.”

“I have recently come in to a rather substantial amount of money so with regards to decision making we are in a "Can do, Go" situation. I'll take one - where do I sign!”

“Oh how wonderful, with such great views as electricty pylons, two power stations and the murky old river trent. It's just a status symbol really you know; I bet they have private registrations too such as PEN15 too. Hey poor people, look at me, I am insecure!. Yes, we are looking at you. I can see your private registration also relects the type of person you are.......”
