NEW figures have revealed the number of warrant cards lost by Lincolnshire Police officers.

Jane's Police Review collated the information from a Freedom of Information Request to 55 forces across the UK, including Ministry of Defence police.

From 2008 to 2010, three warrant cards were lost by the county's officers.

It is one of the lowest figures in the country, with the Met having lost 451 and the Greater Manchester Constabulary 102.

A total of 1,682 warrant cards have been reported lost or stolen from 48 forces between April 2008 and March this year.

One hundred cards were reported stolen over the two years while the remaining 1,582 cards were recorded by forces as lost, missing or unaccounted for.

The UK's largest force, the Met, reported sworn officers either lost or had 451 cards stolen over the past two years.

But the force added many of these had been later recovered and the number of cards stolen from officers in the past financial year equated to just 0.7 per cent of the Met's warrant cards.
