THE cast of Blackfriars' Sleeping Beauty is to open a Christmas event at St James' Church, Freiston.

This year the cast and their star, Gabriella Bradshaw from CBBC's Hartbeat, will cast a spell at the opening of the Christmas Tree Festival on Saturday, December 8 at 10am as they perform songs from the Panto.

The Christmas Tree Festival and Yuletide Fair runs on the Saturday and Sunday, December 9 from 10am to 4pm.

Spokesman Louise Pearson said: "This weekend of festive fun for the whole family includes Christmas performances from gospel, children's and local choirs, bell ringers, musicians and dance groups, seasonal games, free children's craft activities and the chance to win one of the great raffle prizes including a weekend break in Hunstanton and a meal with wine at The Witham and Blues Restaurant."

The weekend will end with a Carol Service at 6pm on the Sunday, when the lights will be dimmed before and after the service to enjoy the full beauty of the decorated trees.

The festival continues on Saturday, December 15 with a Christmas Jazz Concert.

Boston Grammar School Jazz Band as they perform their repertoire and Christmas numbers. Enjoy a free glass of mulled wine and mince pie and let the twinkling Christmas trees provide a wonderful backdrop to the evening.

Tickets are still available at £4 for adults (accompanied children free).

There will be further opportunities to enjoy the beautifully decorated Church at our Christmas services. On Christmas Eve there will be a Crib Service at 4pm, where children can dress up as nativity characters, or at the Midnight Mass at 11.30pm, or on Christmas morning at 10am for Family Communion.
