A WOMAN who died after being found lying in a passageway off Lincoln's Portland Street has been named by police.

Virginija Diksiene, 43, was a Lithuanian national who lived on nearby Hermit Street.

Ms Diksiene was found by a passer-by just after 11pm on Thursday and taken to Lincoln County Hospital, where she died in the early hours of Friday morning.

A 60-year-old man was arrested over the weekend, but has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

An initial post mortem carried out on Friday proved inconclusive and officers now say it could take weeks to determine a cause of death.

Lincolnshire Police spokesman Debra Tinsley, said: "It is anticipated that it will take several weeks for the results of these to be available.

"In the meantime, police are continuing with their inquiries and are treating the death as unexplained."

Anyone with information should call Lincolnshire Police on 0300 1110300, quoting incident number 78 of August 27.
