John Wilkinson will employ a patient approach as he attempts to mould his Lincoln United squad for next season.

The non-league veteran saved the Whites from relegation out of UniBond Division One (South) last term, having succeeded Seamus Lawless as manager.

While many clubs are already announcing a flurry of signings, Wilkinson said he will happily play the waiting game in his attempts to bolster the Ashby Avenue playing staff.

"I've been in talks with players who live on the outlying districts of the county, but work in Lincoln," revealed Wilkinson, who is in his third spell in charge of the Whites.

"I'm looking for ambitious players.

"We have a base from which to build and I want to add to that, but I'm a bit more patient than I used to be.

"In the past I wanted to know who had signed the day after the season had ended, but I now know it's a bit different."
