Wind farm saga hits new twist and delay
Planning officials have suspended a proposal to build a wind farm between two Lincolnshire villages.
Enertrag UK has been asked to provide more information about its plans for eight 125-metre turbines at Baumber and Wispington, near Horncastle.

Baumber Wind Farm Action Group members make their feelings known.
East Lindsey District Council will allow the application to continue through the planning process if the energy company can show how its project will affect nearby residents.
The Echo understands this includes an assessment of what impact the turbines could have on house prices plus wind speed results recorded in the area.
East Lindsey District Council spokesman James Gilbert said: "The council has suspended the processing of the Baumber wind farm planning application because it wants more information on a number of issues to assess the impact the development would have on the area.
"Once this is received it can continue through the planning process."
Enertrag UK project developer David Linley said a response to the district council's letter had been sent and he was unconcerned by the delay.
"Probably 80 per cent of what was asked for by the council are not material considerations in the planning process," he said.
"I suppose it's a ploy to delay things. It does not worry us and we have given them all the information required."
Mr Linley said the company had been told to expect a decision from the authority by Friday, November 6.
The council received more than 700 letters against the proposal during the consultation period and Baumber Wind Farm Action Group chairman Melvin Grosvenor said the group wanted an open and honest application.

“Well there you go. Matthew Templeton's said it's attractive to look at, therefore it's attractive to look at. Never mind forming your own opinions, God has spoken.”

“Then all I can say is you are lying and you have not quizzed anybody in Baumber. I have spoken to a lot of friends and family in the village and they are all for it.
It's for the future, providing green power and it's attractive to look at. You can sit there in your garden and view the serenity of the blades slowly turning on a hazy summer day. Beautiful.”

“Matthew as a Baumber resident we do not know who you are .. You actually do not live in Baumber as far as we are concerned .. So how can you speak for the people of Baumber are you a friend of Enertrag by any chance ?”

“Hi Matthew . sorry to disappoint you but of the 700 plus residents across a wide area who have written into ELDC only 8 at the last count have said yes..
No we are not the old people who are dying out but are of the
vast majority who have looked at Enertrag's proposal and see it for what it is worth not a lot...
It is an opportunist attempt to dump eight massive industrial structures in an umspoilt area.
Plus they will not produce any meaningful power. Enertrag have told ELDC that they wont even release the wind speed data, what have they got to hide ?
In time the full story of how the wind energy industry have misled the UK Government and the country to believe that building turbines every where will provide meaningful amounts of green energy. In Denmark they have woken up to the fact and are withdrawing frm this technology. Read John Etheringtons book, The Great Windfarm Scam and you will understand exactly what the truth is.
I will lookout for your banner we have had loads destroyed and stolen ....
kind regards Melvin”

“I think that I understand why people have negative views about having wind turbines as near neighbours. Most cite View, Noise, Not cost effective, Cost of backup power, Huge subsidies etc.
Could Mathew articulate why he is so in favour please ?
Attacking people as Nimby's does not actually further the cause of renewable energy.”

“I'm part of the Baumber Wind Farm Positivity Group and we whole-heartedly support the wind farm. The difference between us and the negative group is that they are made up of the old NIMBY residents of Baumber, the people who are slowly dying out and don't appreciate the need for sustainability to improve.
The good thing is that I'm in the middle of painting a larger banner to erect in my garden supporting the farm. It reads "Honk if you're windy!"”
