Winter
This is February 2009.
Dark skies blanket fog and black ice.
Siberian snow falls on pine
Which is pretty, and white and nice.
Britain of course, is not used to deep snow
(Looking lovely with snow-covered trees),
Not many people have learned how to ski,
So the nation is brought to its knees.
The trains are all off the rails,
Even the power lines fail.
We slip and slither around on the ice,
Breaking bones is not very nice.
No matter what time of year it occurs,
We can prepare for our fears,
Climate change can't be taken for granted,
Seeds of knowledge need to be planted.
Are we prepared for weather conditions?
Do we turn a blind eye to the sky?
Are we ever to learn from the changing world?
"We should have been ready" we cry!
