And the competition, which begins on August 29 in Argentina, marks the 19-year-old's remarkable rise to international recognition having only made her senior debut in May.
But the Bristol University student (pictured left) has grown in confidence on the international stage having received six caps for England since her initial debut.
And with her experiences at the prestigious Champions Trophy, Twigg is hopeful she can figure again in Argentina.
"Having played at the Champions Trophy I've now got some good experience of international tournaments," said Twigg.
"I only missed out on one game there so I would like to think there's a good chance I will get some games.
"But I am so grateful for the chance to go, and if I am not selected to play I'll still relish the whole experience itself.
"I am so excited though and I can't wait to get out to Argentina now."
England have been grouped at the World Cup with hosts and Champions Trophy winners Argentina, as well as China, Spain, Korea and South Africa.
Twigg, who plays her club hockey with Clifton, is excited by what is will be a huge occasion when England play the host country on September 6.
And following her team's bronze medal at the Champions Trophy, Twigg believes a semi-final appearance would represent a successful tournament for England.
"Playing Argentina in their own country is going to bring an amazing atmosphere to the match," she said.
"Sure, it will be quite nerve-wracking but I think the huge crowds will be great to play in front of.
"Following our Champions Trophy performances we see ourselves as rivals to the world's top countries.
"Before we fly out we will all sit down and discuss our aims and objectives but I think we'll be looking at a semi-final place as our main objective."
