Lincoln's world indoor bowls champion Billy Jackson has fallen at the first hurdle in his defence of the crown.

Jackson was stunned by Canadian Hirendra Bhartu in a second-round match at Hopton-On-Sea, Norfolk.

The city competitor and number one seed was given a first-round bye and was red-hot favourite to defeat Bhartu but following two drawn sets – 7-7 and 8-8 – the match went into a deciding third set, which Bhartu won in the third end with a 2-1 score.

More to follow.
