World record for most hovering radio-controlled helicopters set in Lincolnshire
A new world record for the most radio controlled helicopters hovering simultaneously has been set in a field in North Scarle.
The new Guinness World Record, pending verification, stands at 64 helicopters.
Flyers from far and wide helped smash the previous record of 42 during a fun event hosted by Eagle RC Helicopter Club over the bank holiday weekend.
A world record for the most helicopters flying upside down at the same time was also set with at least 23 aircraft.

Adrian Bedford, 45, owner of Eagle RC Helicopter Club, said he is thrilled at the records.
“It’s not as easy as it sounds to get all these helicopters up in the air at the same time,” said Mr Bedford, a floor layer who lives in Eagle.
“Once they’re up and hovering, they have to up for a minute to qualify for the record.
“It was a great, fun weekend and it’s always nice to set new records.”
The stunt was filmed for verification purposes by Mark Slater, from Manchester, with a camera fitted to an octocopter, a helicopter with eight rotors.
“Setting a new world record just makes people come back next year and set a new record,” said Mr Slater.
“It’s a great hobby that anyone can get involved in.
“For me it started with my son gettign a small helicopter one Christmas that was fun to fy around the living room.”
The weekend aimed to raise £3,000 for the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
Special guests were international flying duo Simone Zunterer, 27, and Timo Wendtland, 32, from Germany.
Miss Zunterer said: “Flying in such a large group is something new for me but hovering is one of the basics.
“But you still need to control your helicopter a lot and you have to trust your neighbours.”
Mr Wendtland, one of the fastest flyers in the world, said: “It was lovely to fly in a big group.
“Everyone was helping each other and it was a very sociable event and it was great that we were invited.”
Organisers are already looking ahead to next year when they hope to get more than 100 helicopters in the air at the same time.

“I have to comment on this one 917199.
I was at the club for the world record event on Sunday, to watch my husband taking part for the second year running. We were also there the day before when lots of competitions for the pilots were taking place. It was a fun filled two days with inverted flying, cutting the grass, drag racing, 3D flying which was unbelievable - an extremely talented group of pilots. Hovering 64 heli's at the same time is not an easy thing to do, nevermind getting 23 inverted as well... it looked amazing. A fantastic event, and thanks should go to Adie, Stuart & Co for their organisation. We will definitely be back again next year for another go!”
