X Factor hopeful "gutted" to be kicked off show
The X Factor hopeful from Ruskington who was booted out of last night’s show has said he was gutted and disappointed with judge Gary Barlow.
After Hugh Maynard and his group Tenors of Rock secured their place to go through to the next round they were then told to leave when Gary decided to replace them with a girl-band who had been put together earlier on the show.
Hugh said: “We are gutted. We really liked and respected Gary and we thought he would back us all the way so it was really disappointing to have to leave.
“It’s all quite contrived and it’s clearly not about the vocals. The band he replaced us with didn’t even have a name. I think he was told by producers to put them through.”

Hugh said that off-camera Gary had continually praised his band and told them that they were fresh and different.
He added: “We thought he had our backs – it hurt. We didn’t even get to speak to him after the show. We were sent to stay in a different hotel so we couldn’t talk to the other contestants.”
Despite losing their place on the show Tenors of Rock have today released a single and will continue to work together.
They have a gig coming up in Aberystwyth in November and hope to do a tour in Germany next year.
