A LIVE art project involving Lincoln pupils and some of the city's thriving cultural landmarks is to take place.

Youngsters from Branston Community College, Lincoln Christ's Hospital School and North Kesteven School have been working with artists to produce Live Art.

The outcome is a series of experimental live art performances, which will be shown at venues across the city, including The Collection and The Terrace, on Saturday.

Year 12 drama students from Christ's Hospital School in Wragby Road will perform The Collectors, which was created in response to objects they found in The Collection and the poem The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock by TS Eliot.

It is in the form of a series of short performances taking place at The Collection.

Student Jaimee-Lee Fleming, 17, who will take part in the performance, said: "It was an exciting experience to work with professional artists. It has brought something new to our usual theatre style."

Younger pupils at the school followed the process the actors took to create their pieces. They have put together leaflets for visitors.

Nathan Lucas, 15, said: "We have created the leaflets to help the public understand the concepts in a comprehensible language."

Over at The Terrace, students from North Kesteven School will perform Have Your Cake And Eat It.

It is a mixed media installation with performance. The theme is addressing divides in modern society.

One, which is being staged at the medieval Bishop's Palace, explores the desire to feel a sense of belonging.

The result uses shadow, light, movement, gestures and sounds, with virtual and live performance.

Lesley Farrell, community engagement office for Lincolnshire County Council, said: "The students and artists were given the theme of divided communities and asked to consider the current contemporary art exhibition at The Collection before developing their own creative work.

"Each group worked together to identify suitable venues and developed performances specifically for these sites."

The Collectors will be shown at The Collection from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

Have Your Cake and Eat It will be performed at The Terrace from noon to 3.30pm.

One – a 10-minute performance shown on a loop – will be at the Bishop's Palace from 5pm to 6.30pm.
