AMBITIOUS Lincoln Moorlands Railway have signed Lincoln United goalkeeper Mario Ziccardi ahead of their FA Cup Preliminary Round tie with Glapwell on Sunday (3pm).

The Moors travel to Mansfield's 10,000 capacity Field Mill for their match with the Evo-Stik League Division One (South) outfit with only Joe Butler (unavailable) and Jack Cotton (suspended) the only absentees.

Although the club have been boosted by the arrival of Ziccardi, who will now compete with Ayden Duffy for a starting berth.

And assistant manager Baz Barker says that competition for places is what he and manager Chris Moyses want to create at Newark Road this season.

"The move with Mario happened very quickly, we heard he was available on Monday and by Tuesday we had got him on board," said Barker.

"Mario brings a wealth of experience and his arrival will now provide some competition for Ayden in goal, which is what we need to improve this club.

"We're in negotiations with several other players too, who we hope can bolster our squad and keep everyone on their toes."

Moorlands' trip to Field Mill will offer a number of the players their first chance to play at a former Football League venue.

And Barker explains that the chance to play at one of the region's larger stadia has been used as an incentive to motivate the players for their weekend outing.

"It will be a fantastic day for many of the boys who haven't played at bigger grounds in the past," said Barker.

"It's important they're not overawed by the occasion and try to enjoy the day."
