Two actors given Tennyson film role
A QUEST to find a Lord Tennyson look-alike has led to two actors being chosen to play the famous county son.
WAG Screen, the film arm of the Washingborough Archaeology Group, has cast Lincoln-born Ben Poole (45) for the lead role of the Somersby-born poet.
But Washingborough resident Tony Smith impressed the audition panel enough to secure a place in the production of The Lady of Shalott and will play Tennyson in his later years.
Both men have previous acting experience. Mr Poole took part in The Full Monty musical while Mr Smith's past work includes the Lincoln Mystery Plays.
WAG Screen producer and costume specialist Pauline Loven said she was pleased to discover a high number of talented actors in the area.
"The actors we have chosen are fantastic," she said.
"When we did the screen tests everyone who came forward was really good and we were really inspired by the two we have selected."
Filming for the production is under way at the moment and the whole project is expected to be completed early next year.
