Dorothy Ive celebrates her 100th birthday today.
She will be celebrating surrounded by friends and family, while enjoying the odd tipple.
Daughter Dawn Cragg, who described her mother as a "lively character", said she seemed quiet on the outside, but masked a friendly interior.
"She's led a very different life; she was home schooled until her last year," she said.
"She's very shy, but she's an excellent cook and a nice person."
An avid tennis player in her earlier years, Dorothy met husband Peter during a game, before moving from her home of Lingfield in Surrey to live and work with him in Kent.
Following his death, Dorothy left Kent to move to Retford and be closer to Dawn.
While the fun-loving centenarian would like to turn back the clock, she said her one key lesson would be for others to enjoy life.
"I wish I could go back 20 years," she said.
"It's nice to see your children grow up.
"My advice would be to enjoy life as much as you can."
Tomorrow, Dorothy will spend the day with Dawn and her other two children, Peter and Mary, for a celebration at the home.
