Centenary weekend reunion planned at former Boston school
Stickford School opened in 1909 and said goodbye to its last set of pupils in 1987.
Now the building in Church Road is well used as the village community centre, hosting various groups, activities and events.
On Saturday, September 19, from 10am to 5pm, an exhibition and school reunion is being held at the centre to start the centenary party.
Organiser Cheryl Steele said: "Everyone is invited to come along, particularly former pupils, to a day of celebration.
"This will be a chance to catch up with friends, view an exhibition of photographs and memorabilia telling the history of the school and the community centre, buy a copy of the latest publication from Stickford Local History Group, A Tale Of Two Schools, and enjoy a ploughman's lunch and a slice of birthday cake."
On Sunday, September 20, there will be a family fun event, from 11am to 4pm, inside the centre and in the grounds.
It will feature free entertainment with the Alford Silver Band, the Little Angels Dance Squad, a traditional Indian display, face painting, balloon modelling, games and competitions. The competitions include photography for a 6in by 4in photo of a Stickford scene, cookery for six iced buns, a garden on a plate and colouring.
All competitions are free to enter and open to all ages apart from the colouring, which is for children only.
Mrs Steele said: "There is going to be something for everybody over the weekend, young and old, so come along to Stickford to either or both events and have a good time."
