Lady in need of surgery to save her life
The New Leake based Great Dane Adoption Society is trying to raise £9,000 to cure a four-year-old female dog named Lady who the charity took in after she was abandoned by a breeder having had many litters of puppies.
Lady suffers from Wobblers Syndrome which is a narrowing of the spine which causes pressure on the spinal cord and has left her unable to walk or run without falling over.
Her only hope of survival is expensive neuro-surgery which the society cannot afford without the public's help.
Adoption officer Joy Ledingham told the Target: "Lady is a kind sweet natured girl who has had a dreadful start in life.
"The only successful treatment for her condition is neuro-surgery.
"At this time our small charity is facing difficult financial times due to the high number of very sick dogs being handed in by their owners. We simply do not have the funds to help Lady.
"We will need approximately £9,000 to pay for a MRI scan, neuro-surgery and full re-hab so that she can go on to find a wonderful forever home like all our other Danes.
"Please help us if you can. Lady is currently at our sanctuary being maintained on steroid drugs but can't go on for much longer.
"The only alternative for her is not an option we want to consider for this super fun-loving girl."
