Are comments proof of a hidden agenda?

I AM writing regarding the proposed development of the Inn On The Park, Skegness, as displayed on the ELDC website, and the seeking of £1 million of funding to achieve this.

Cllr Dick Edington is quoted as saying: "It is important that local people help to shape the future of their local area and I'm pleased so many people have told us what they would like to see this important building used for."

I wonder how he and his colleagues are able to satiate, and equate their consciences when they have deliberately set out to frustrate a much more important project in the saving of Horncastle Town Hall.

Local people have been telling ELDC for several years now that they CAN take the building over and turn it into a community success – at no cost to ELDC or the taxpayer.

Unhelpful and intransigent decisions have been taken in direct contravention of ELDC's own published corporate strategy document.

In spite of a parish poll, a protest march and a 3,500-signature petition, incorrect decisions have been made with absolutely no consideration of what the public want.

I wonder, therefore, whether the comments are meaningless 'hot air' – and whether this is proof positive that there really is a hidden agenda for the future of this prime site of huge importance for the community of Horncastle?
