WHAT a comical performance put in by Councillor Mike Gilbert in last week's Target.

I really must commend him on his humorous skills, that is I presume he was joking when he claimed Boston Borough Council is committed to improving the situation on affordable housing.

How can he make such a statement while also defending the council's planning committee for turning down the social housing scheme in Wyberton?

I know councillors often say one thing and do another but to say one thing and then say completely the opposite in the same story is a new one.

Previously I have always felt Councillor Gilbert was one of the better local representatives we have as he, in the limited amount of times I have read things about him, seemed to have his head screwed on.

I hope this is a brief aberration on his part and not a sign that I was either wrong about him or he has been nobbled by the Conservative administration's leaders and turned into a zombie-like figure as many of his colleagues seem to be.
