The driver of the Freelander, a 39-year-old woman from Glentham, near Market Rasen, was shocked but unhurt.

Emergency services were also called to the pedestrian crossing near the row of shops in Skellingthorpe Road, Lincoln, at approximately 3pm in the afternoon.

A 15-year-old schoolgirl, from the Birchwood Avenue area of Lincoln, was involve in an accident with a red Hyundai Amica owned by a man from Lincoln.

The girl, believed to be a pupil from the Priory City of Lincoln Academy, was taken to Lincoln County Hospital with cuts to the back of the head and a suspected broken collar bone.

The area was cordoned off until about 4pm and an investigation is now under way.

Lincolnshire Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have information to help with either of the investigations by calling the Collision Witness Hotline on (01522) 558855.

“Suggesting that a speed limit be lowered by 10 mph is eco-fascism?

    Who knew!”

“I don't know the facts of the accident at the Skellingthorpe crossing, although I will say that sometimes driving near there when the schools have finished for the day is quite frightening, since there are "swarms" of kids around the shops there many of whom spill over in to the road, pushing and shoving each other or walking four abreast on the pavement, and they do seem to think they are invincible, with little understanding for the driver and their ONE pair of eyes. Of course, I take it very slowly near that crossing, not least because there is a speed camera watching over that bit of road, but it is very unerving. I remember when I was at school (some 15 years ago) being taught about road safety. Do they still teach it? Hope the girl in question is ok though.”

“"Smoking, excessive drinking and being massively obese are all considered antisocial - forcing human beings and cars to share the same streets should be viewed the same way."

So Kevin. Not content with telling us all what we should DO about cars, you now want to tell us all how to FEEL about them. Have you ever considered a career in politics? In North Korea perhaps?”
