“Why not ask around locally if there is any interest in getting a coach trip to the market. If you get an estimate from a local firm, it may be a more attractive proposal to some people than using their car.”

“gsx1100 - I think the point is that Davie40 wants to go by rail and is highlighting the poor service on this line.
THere are two main reason, the first being the very high cost of operating the line due to the numerous manned signal boxes and crossing boxes.
Hopefully if the suggested upgraded takes place when the signalling is moved to Lincoln then a more intensive service could operate.
However the other problem is that at "privatisation" the main train crew operation was moved from Peterborough to Nottingham and until this is brought back locally no improvement can be expected.
There is even a gap in the service while the train crew have their meal break.”

If visitors from Europe, and further afield, can organise a trip, then a +/- 40 mile trip should be a piece of cake.
