Join the Vulcan painting name game

Eddie Ash, of Lincoln Aviation Art in Steep Hill, promised himself that when the Avro XH558 Vulcan flew again, he would create a painting as a tribute.
And in preparation for the Waddington Air Show on July 5 and 6, at which the Vulcan is expected to fly, he has begun work on an oil painting of the restored bomber.
In a bid to generate interest in Lincolnshire's aviation heritage, he hopes that a fitting name for the piece will be found through the voices of the county's air and art enthusiasts.
"Although I do the painting, it does not necessarily mean that I will come up with a good name but somebody out there will," he said.
"Echo readers have helped me before and by asking people to name it, it can help to raise the profile of aviation which is such a big part of Lincolnshire."
The painting will show the Avro XH558 Vulcan flying high above RAF Waddington with the 607 Vulcan which stands at the base's gates, in the background.
And whoever comes up with the best name will win a master print worth £300 while two runners-up will get a print of the painting.
Mr Ash worked at RAF Scampton in air traffic control during the 1960s and was inspired by the sight of the Vulcan, which back then was ready to fly at any time and also carried nuclear weapons.
The newly restored 558, which was the first mark two Vulcan to go into service, has taken 15 years of hard work and £6m of donations.
The Vulcan to the Sky Trust set up the fund to get the aircraft flying again.
