David Kemp (49) is accused of exposing himself to a group of children, some of whom were just six years old.
But Kemp told Lincoln Crown Court that he had a towel wrapped around his waist which fell to the floor while he was in his living room with the light on and the curtains open.
Kemp claimed he had a shower before trying to record a news bulletin that included film of his ex-wife taking part in a Race for Life event.
He told Lincoln Crown Court: "I deny that I was doing anything at all that was provocative or sexual. I wasn't aware of anybody outside."
Kemp said he spent the afternoon in his local pub before returning home with the intention of watching and recording the bulletin.
He admitted he was "merry" after drinking lager and wine but denied he fondled himself while the children could see him through the window.
The court heard Kemp was well known on the Lincoln music scene and had been in local band the League of Mentalmen.
Kemp, of Mareham Close, Bracebridge Heath, denies exposure as a result of the incident on September 23 last year.
The trial continues.
