Fly-tippers dump tyres and household waste at roadside

A lorry load of rubbish has been dumped by the side of a Lincolnshire road.

The waste, including household goods, tyres and domestic waste was tipped on the road leading to Norton Bottoms Quarry, near Norton Disney.

Now North Kesteven District Council is seeking out the fly tippers with the help of images caught on CCTV.

Councillor Geoff Hazelwood said: "We would like people to get in touch with any information they may have on this incident.

"Although officers will investigate for evidence, it is crucial to hear from eyewitnesses with any information, for example details of an unfamiliar vehicle.

"We rely on members of the public to work with the district council to investigate such cases and would like to thank them for helping to keep North Kesteven's open spaces clean and tidy."

Between June and December the council dealt with 470 clear-ups and managed to get out to most cases within two days.

The waste was dumped between 10.55pm and 11.05pm on Monday and was caught on privately owned CCTV.

Fly-tippers could face a maximum fine of £50,000 or five years in prison. There is also the possibility of being given an ASBO, a driving ban or losing the vehicle used to dump the rubbish.

Lincolnshire County Council said householders were responsible for making sure their rubbish was not just dumped.
