North Hykeham resident Sheila Wingell is organising a barn dance on Sunday 23 September to raise funds for Canine Partners, a charity that provides specially trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities.

The event will take place at Swinderby Village Hall, Bulpit Lane, Lincoln, LN6 9LT from 7-11pm. The Higgledy Piggled band will lead the music, then dancers will be treated to a hog roast and donuts.

Sheila has been a volunteer puppy parent for Canine Partners since 2010 and has so far offered a supportive family home for 3 puppies whilst they undergo their training at the Hull puppy training satellite. Sheila comments, “I have seen for myself the amazing effect a canine partner can have on the life of a person with disabilities. It is always hard to play such a big part in training one of these puppies, then handing them back. However, knowing they will go on to carry out such an important role makes it totally worthwhile.”

Tickets for the barn dance cost £7.50 per person. For further information please contact Sheila on 07828 172718. Canine Partners is always looking for volunteers, fundraisers and puppy parents from the local community. Please contact Tracy Westgarth on 01482 870945 for further information.
